FAQ:

What is South Dakota Pheasant Hunts?

"South Dakota Pheasant Hunts" Is a guide service operated by Rob Nelson.  Rob has been guiding pheasnt hunts in South Dakota since 1998.

What is Pheasant Adventures?

Pheasant Adventures is the name of the lodge our guest stay at owned by John Edell and family.  The lodge is located on one section of land that has been groomed for pheasant hunting for over 15 years.

Can we bring our own dogs?

Yes, we would love for you to bring your dogs.  There is nothing like the experiance of South dakota pheasant hunting for a bird dog.  As long as you can keep control of your dog at all times.  Check cord or E collar recommended.  We have a heated area for your dogs to be in a kennel while you stay with us.

How much land is available to hunt?

We have thousands of acres of land that we lease, and are able to hunt.  typically we try to let our land rest from hunting pressure at least one week in between hunts.

How far are the fields from the Lodge?

The closest fields are right out the front door.  Our hunting grounds cover approximately 5 square miles!

Do we drive our own vehicles through the fields?

Yes, although we can accommodate you if you do not have a suitable vehicle.  We have found that it is most comfortable for our guest to have all their gear in their own vehicle and then follow us around.

What is the terrain?

We hunt a variety of different fields.  Some are row crops with a nice lane to walk through.  Others are sloughs and cattails, were there are no trails and you must bust thru the cover.  Just about every field has an easier option, if someone has trouble walking.

Do you post the fields or use blockers?

Yes, South Dakota pheasants love to run, so we block just about every field we hunt.

What are the rooms like?

Most rooms have three twin beds, the biggest room has 6 beds.

Will we be the only group hunting?

Yes, we have thousands of acres of private land.  Our land has been groomed for pheasant hunting for the last 20 years.  It consists of food plots, which are next to cover and near water.
